NP assessed the talent pipeline in the city.
NP was part of the team that developed a manufacturing revitalization strategy for the Philadelphia Mayor’s Manufacturing Task Force and the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation.
Manufacturing is a significant part of the Greater Philadelphia region; it generates $105.6 billion in annual output and employs 163,000 individuals. In the City alone, manufacturers pay $1.3 billion in annual wages to 23,000 employees, who earn an average of $58,997 a year. Of the City’s 750 manufacturing firms, 575 employ fewer than 20 people.
NP’s work included comprehensive reviews of the city’s major industrial sectors, evaluation of the workforce development system and the innovation capacity in the community to support emerging manufacturing and product development companies.
As a result of the process the Mayor created the Office of Manufacturing and Industry to serve as the point organization for implementation.
